“Once a place touches you like this, the wind never blows so cold again. You feel for it like it was your child.”
– Dr. Archibald “Moonlight” Graham
The guys behind Campfire Tournaments
Scott Rolen and Dan Held bring more than 54 combined years of playing and coaching experience. Dan and Scott met in 1994 while playing for the Spartanburg Phillies. They became roommates and best friends from that point forward. In 2016, they started an Indiana Bulls travel team for their sons. They wanted their boys to not only enjoy the game of baseball but to build friendships that would last throughout the years. E5 Baseball was created with this same idea in mind.
Throwback Players
Scott and Dan are considered “old school” or “throwback” players, which means they played the game with respect for their opponents and the game of baseball. Throwback players run on and off the field between innings and give everything they have on the base paths. The weekend is meant to pass along this style of baseball to the next generation.
Dan spent 14 years in professional baseball as a player and coach, was Executive Director of the Indiana Bulls for 11 years, and spent his last three years Coaching for Indiana University.
Scott spent 20 years in professional baseball – 17 of them in the Major Leagues. He was a perennial defensive third baseman winning eight Gold Gloves (defense), one Silver Slugger (offense), and being named to seven All-Star Games. Scott started the E5 Foundation to bring smiles to the faces of children and their families who are dealing with an illness, hardship, or other special needs.
Dan and Scott are very excited to share their passion with others.
